T's Journey in.....

My name is Adam. Most people just call me "T". I'm a child of God, Husband to an amazing woman, father to 2 amazing-yet crazy - kids. I work for Apple to pay the bills. I'm Tech Director of Torch Church (www.torchchurch.tv) - a church plant in northern IL. This is my Journey in faith, health & weight loss-and any other stuff I feel like sharing along the way.

Going back...

I’m going back to my first blog love…CaffeinatedFaith.  I’ve taken enough time off from it - and now it’s time to return.  So, that means this little blog that I use…don’t use…use…don’t use…..yadda, yadda - is gonna go quiet.  So, for the 2…maybe 3 people that read this….come join me at www.caffeinatedfaith.com.  IT’s still a work in progress.  Over the next few days I’ll be tweeking, updating, changing the site a bit……bare with me.  :)

I’ve had a Grand Central account for a few years now.  I went to check it today after ignoring it for awhile & I had one voicemail on there from 2/27.  ummm…listen.

Leighton For indicates that North America now holds the distinguished honor of being the third largest mission field in the English-speaking world. And the United States has more secular, unchurched people than most nations of the world, yet many churches don’t seem to operate in light of that fact.

Chew on that for a moment. I doubt any of us realized it…..

Days off are rarely ever a true “day off”. Thursday are my days off from the Apple Store- but at home there is a ton to do. Back to “work” I go.

A little idea I stole from pat dryburgh .
I”m going to try to post a picture each do that describes the day in one snap shot.

Today:
Stress.  Hands down one of the most stressful days I’ve had in years.

Amazing.  The man over at russhutto.com hooked up this sweeeeet iPhone wallpaper.  Be sure to hit up his blog & check it out - download to your iPhone.  Live it - Love it- Share it.

I love days when you hear the voice of God so clearly.
Days when he just seems so close that you swear if you turn around quick enough, you’d be able to catch a glimpse.
Just a few minutes ago I was cleaning the counters in the kitchen.
I do it quite often. Wipe them down so they look all pretty.
But the voice inside me said I wasn’t really cleaning the whole counter. I was just cleaning the part people see. That in order for the countertops to be “clean,” I was going to have to work a little harder. Pick some stuff up and clean even the parts people don’t see.
And then it hit me.
I do this in my life. Clean the parts people look at and pretend the whole person is clean. When in fact, I need to work a little harder and do some moving…cleaning the parts hidden underneath all the clutter.
I admit it. I am guilty of spot cleaning. Both around the house and in my personal life.
And perhaps admitting it is the first step towards fixing it.

Great stuff bro! I need to do the same.

The devil mocks the Church … roaring over the 50 million people he is devouring by way of AIDS. He gloats over the 143 million orphans and stands atop a mountain of 33,000 children each day who will die from preventable issues like malaria and malnutrition.

Satan knows that if the Church took poverty as seriously as we take abortion, we could wipe it out in a generation. The issue isn’t whether or not we can do it, but rather if we have the will to act.

What a great day. Can I go to bed now?

Dear Christian,

Please stop complaining about the economic recession in America. Seriously. It’s beginning to bug me. I’m bothered by the mass layoffs as much as the next person, but I just can’t help but be irked by how you’re coping with this so-called crisis. So, if you don’t mind, please stop your whining.

Please stop thinking that the “blessed are the poor” verse in the Beatitudes now applies to you, because you had to stop going out to eat more than once a week. I would appreciate it if you would stop lamenting how you’re strapped for cash and forced to “cut costs” just after you bought your teenager her very own cell phone with text messaging plan. There are real people who are hurting during this time, and it’s apparently not you. Not while your kids play their hand-held video games in the backseat of the Suburban and you and the Mrs. enjoy worship tunes blasting from the iPod. Not while you drink Starbucks coffee after church and spend your Sundays taking naps in a well-heated home.

The Scale Doesn't Lie

I know it’s a little hard to see - but the scale does say 260lbs.  I’m not sure if this is 100% accurate -but it’s what I have to use right now - so I’m using it.  I’m not going to base success on this number because for me it’s just that - a number.  I base success of the mirror & how I feel.  I’d love to be able to run a 5K this summer - but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.  Right now, I’m focused on setting good habits - getting into a good routine in the gym - and starting to see improvements (both w/ the number on the scale & the reflection in the mirror.)

Yesterday I signed my wife & I up for a gym membership.  So, it’s really day 2 - but we’ll call it day 1.

I went to the gym last night & worked out.  All I did was Cardio - eliptical for about 40 min & then walked on the treadmill for another 20 min.  My legs felt a bit weak this morning but really nothing major.

This morning I hit the gym at 8:00am.  I love that time because only 1 person was in the gym.
Walked on Treadmill for 10 min.
Dumbell Bench Press
Curls
Dumbell squat & lift
Chest Press

The Dumbell squat & lift is something I saw the peeps doing on Biggest Loser - it KILLED my legs. I really hope I can walk tomorrow.

I stepped on the scale, my home scale which I’m not sure how correct it is, and it read - 260lbs.  Ugh.  Long way to go.  Right now my goal is to get down to 225lbs.
